Look out for the Ligero prototype on the road in 2018 with a view to limited production after road testing.

The Delta Ligero prototype is a mid-engined, steel space frame construction with fibreglass body panels. By resisting the temptation to use expensive composites in production, and drawing key components from legendary European and American donor sports cars, Delta will produce cars with high-end performance whilst maintaining an affordable price point.

The current prototype will be powered by an LS3 V8 driving the rear wheels through a Porche Boxster S transaxle, with the intention of producing the car to accept a variety of engines. Suspension is Corvette C5 and Bilstein, with wheels from a Lamborghini Aventador and stopping power provided by a custom set of Baer Brakes. The bodywork draws cues from the great European Supercars whilst retaining a unique, and proudly Australian, design.

Delta Ligero build update August 2017

Work is underway on transplanting the Porsche Boxster dash into the Ligero prototype, and the custom embroidered Velo race seat has arrived! Once the dash placement is finalised we will be able to start on the windscreen surround and the roof, which will then define the doors.

“Delta has listened to what sports car buyers want. The Ligero will deliver the road presence of a supercar with usable power and performance at a fraction of the cost of a modern-day Supercar.”
